QUALITY INN WINS FIRST PLACE HONORS
Toms River, NJ ------ Bob Van Bochove, general manager of the Quality Inn located on Route 37 West, announced that the hotel was awarded first place honors for best display at the recent "International Chef's Night Out" 12th annual fundraiser.
"We are very proud to receive the award and to be recognized for our efforts. We are happy to join other food industry businesses in the county to support the education process in our vocational - technical schools," Van Bochove said. The hotel is an annual participant in the event has won awards in previous years, he added.
This year, Executive Chef Richard LeCarpentier presented a Caribbean theme complete with palm trees, coconuts, Tiki hut thatched table cloths and Graham cracker "sand".
The chef's "tasting tour" included both hot and cold foods prepared in traditional island ways using salsa's, rum flavored sauces, spices and lime marinades.
Attendees samples a conch salad, Rasta Pasta Dread -Lock Salad" and jerk chicken kabobs. Other island treats included "Ropa Vieja Cubana", a braised beef served with white rice, and "tropical Rib Bits" glazed with a mango rum barbecue sauce.
Chef Murray G. Dychtwald, president of Restaurant Rescue, chaired the event, estimated more than 1000 people attended the event which was held at the Poland Springs Arena /Ritacco Center on Toms River North High School Campus. He also noted that more than $70,000 was raised for the vocational schools.

LOCAL HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER ELECTED
NATIONAL DELEGATE
Toms River, NJ ----- Choice Hotels Owners Council recently announced that Bob Van Bochove, general manager of the Quality Inn, located on Route 37 West, has been elected as a national delegate for hotel franchise owners in the Choice family of brands.
Van Bochove was elected to the council at a regional meeting held recently in Warwick, RI. I am looking forward to working with other hotel owners and managers throughout North America, he said. He is the only delegate appointed from New Jersey. I am extremely honored that Region Five has the confidence for me to represent them on a national level, he added.
The Choice Hotels Owners Council represents the licensees of the company through a unified voice, protecting the greater interest of its members by providing ideas, advocacy programs and services. The council interfaces with franchisees in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Van Bochove has been general manager of Quality Inn since its opening in April, 1989. He has been a member of the Region Five Advisory Board for the council since 1992, serving New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Currently, he serves as the communication chair for the region. In 1991, he was designated a certified hotel administrator (CHA) by the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
